To anyone,
I have decided to make this wall into a writing log. I guess my progress and er—- my difficulties in writing shall be written here.
First off, I learned talking from English movies and so naturally my first language became English, despite being a full-blooded Filipino and despite never stepping out of the Philippine Area of responsibility.
Now, my stories are addressed to the Filipino youth so I want my stories to be accessible to the Filipino Youth. By accessibility I mean easy to understand. To spell it out, I want my stories to be easily understood by the Filipino youth.
However, Filipino—-the language, is at most my third language (English being the first, and Cebuano being second) so I am admittedly not so well versed as I would like in the said language.
It's especially hard because when writing, scenes flow in my head in English and I still have to shift it to Filipino. Sometimes I have to translate it in Cebuano to be easier to translate in Filipino. @Clementyne knows my struggle.
I would love to be good at it and I am passionate about it.
That's why these days, my most-visited app in my phone is the Tagalog-English dictionary and I've been collecting Filipino Literature. I have also made it an everyday thing to read one award-winning Filipino piece, whether a poem or a short story.
It's my dream for my stories to change lives more than merely being entertaining. For it to be effective, it needs to be easily understood first of all.
And so in my endeavor, I pray for support.
Yours Truly,
Hannah ❤
