Yearly update. Might make a habit of these, who knows.
More and more I resent the fact that I started writing before I had the lore fleshed out, but hey, extra motivation or something. Gotta finish what you've started and all that.
DxD has cemented a little place in my heart for my most hated of foes, and it will remain there for the rest of my life, but we push on because otherwise researching the canon material will just become a random autistic hyper-fixation that means nothing.
This is a hell of a yap session but I have a whole Discord message character limit, and by God I'm gonna use it.
I've been taking a lot of issues with the characters in the series, even though, for the most part, I don't dislike them. Like the base plot of the canon universe, the characters aren't bad, they're just another missed opportunity. Right now my biggest gripe is with Rossweisse, she's supposed to be a main character in the female cast even though she was introduced in season 3, but when I go over her character, it just feels kind of shallow, there are character traits, like her indulgence in alcohol, she's canonically one of the smartest characters in the series, and she appreciates a good bargain (I love free shit as well.)
But those just don't seem like the foundational building blocks of a person to me, I don't know what it is but I just can't wrap my head around that version of Rossweisse. Basically, this is a long way to say that Rossweisse is gonna go through some changes in my interpretation, because I like her enough to want her in the story (she's literally the link to Norse mythology) and I don't think she's unnecessary enough to just... ignore her or write her off somehow. There definitely are characters that are like that, but I don't consider her one of them.
Anyway, wrapping this up now. Still writing (not the next chapter yet, gotta flesh out some more stuff) and progress is slow, but it is progressing.
Hope everybody's getting along okay.
