As to your story, it has much potential and am wondering if it shall evolve into one themed on science vs magic perhaps as the time period seems close to post medieval borderline renaissance, perfect for such a tale. Still it has the feel of an epic saga so kudo's to you in that regard. I am especially enamoured with your metaphor of fate's tapestry and its intricate web of possibilities, cause and effect, yet only one "string" as it were with hold true in the end. It is almost philosophical in that sense. Nice job!
