"First forget inspiration. Habit is more dependable. Habit will sustain you whether you're inspired or not." [Octavia E. Butler, Furor Scribendi]
I love the power of words, simple pleasures, kindness, animals and natural places. In the spaces between ancient wisdom and contemporary understanding, I explore mythologies that shape our world and the cosmic truths lying just beyond perception. My writing delves into those liminal spaces where reality's comfortable illusions unravel, revealing deeper patterns beneath the surface.
My poetry gives voice to landscapes and their hidden narratives. Whispers of the Karoo; an acrostic poem that won the 2024 Shortys Poetry category, explores South Africa's ancient heartland. The Earth's Lament; (Shortys 2024 Poetry Long List) channels our planet's primordial memories, while "The Karoo's Symphony; (Shortys short story shortlist) delves into the rhythms of that vast wilderness.
In supernatural tales, I seek the extraordinary within the ordinary. The Cradle's Keeper: A Grootslang's Tale; won the 2024 Sapphire Stories Award for most unique supernatural character, bringing South African mythology into contemporary dialogue. The One Who Eats Dreams; emerged from a December 2024 writing challenge, venturing where nightmares and reality intersect.
Currently, I'm crafting; The Spiral Sisters: The Geometries of Awakening, where cosmic terror meets sacred wisdom. Right now I am working on: The Cosmic Keystone: A Symphony of Stars, the Novella competition for February. So read, vote and comment!
Your engagement through reads, votes, and comments creates new dimensions of meaning. To the reader who found themselves in Aria's journey through Echoes of the Red Earth, and to the soul who discovered something unique in The One Who Eats Dream - you remind me why I venture into unexplored territories.
Join me for The Cosmic Keystone, I would love your support.
