I need a holiday. Thank goodness, I'm also getting a holiday. Three weeks in the woods – no people, no internet, only a crapton of books, daily walks, and a lake.

That's really awesome! Even the shortest time span where you're detached from the chaotic world, the internet, mobile phones and everything sounds heavenly. Spend time with the nature, connect with it, have the time of your life there! You deserve to get a break from everything <33

Hello, a few months ago you read the first parts of my story and gave me very helpful constructive criticism on it. After that, I partnered with an editor who (I think) greatly improved upon my work. If you happen to have any spare time, I would really appreciate if you gave it another read (and offer some more constructive criticism on solvable issues). Thanks for your time in reading this anyway.

what happened to book 2 of Mask of Celibacy? i wanted to reread the first 2 chapters but i cant find it ;-;

_FruityBooty_

@Carolyn_Hill The only asexual book with a plot that I've read was The Market of Monsters Trilogy, (which starts with Not Even Bones by Rebecca Schaeffer). Romance/intimacy wasn't even MENTIONED until the last chapter of the SERIES.

But it is a bit dark/edgy with the gore/canabilism/sadists/etc... so, beware. I read the whole thing and when I got to the end I was like "Yo. That's me. An Ace book out in the wild. At a public library. What are the chances? Wait a minute- I completely forgot this was categorized as an LGBT+ book and that was why I picked it up in the first place. I completely forgot. I was just vibing here for the plot." (but i was shipping both main characters the whole time XD)

understandable. i just wanted to read some fluff of “ok. we discovered ourselves. we decided to make this relationship work. Now here’s some random day to day cute stuff c:”
but its fine XD. ive been reading basically all the stories with the tags “asexual” and “fluff” on Ao3

@Carolyn_Hill oh. idk. i still read a lot of romance/sex heavy stuff… and ive only seen one shots. not very plot heavy. i just like the dynamic of “yo. respect my boundaries. sex makes me gag sometimes” and the allosexual is like “understandable. i got plenty of toys to take care of myself anyway. u do u. but are cuddles okay today tho?” “… no. but we can sit next to each other and hold hands” “bet. i’ll make the popcorn. what movie are we watching?”

i even read a oneshot where its was asexual x allosexual x aromantic XD. That was fun to read. the Ace wants all romance, no sex. the Aro wanted only sex, no flowers. Allo was like, “welp, now i got best of both worlds ᕕ(ᐛ) ᕗ”

Yep, I'm just going to try a random new genre to clear my headspace like @Queen_of_life_Heba has recommended. I've never done it, and even if I never post it, I'd love to give it a go.

          LitRPG. Because why not?

WilliamGGraves

@Carolyn_Hill Litrpg, that's a genre I have had ideas for, but never had the time to write a story. I am sure you will do great.

Now here's a question. Well, first, I have good news: I've got a chapter. (I mean, that's a miracle nowadays with work and life and stuff!)

But there's bad news: It's 3,200 words. Too long for a chapter, too short to break up.

A part of me thinks: Hey, I should post this as one chapter because it sets the story, the conflict, and the two main characters fairly well. I mean, for a rough draft at least.

The other part thinks: Holy Bejesus! It's 3,200 freaking words. You can't do that!

Now, the question is: What do I do? *rests head on desk* I probably shouldn't be making this decision at a quarter to midnight after working most of the day.

Shivran86

@Carolyn_Hill yes, the flow matters too. Sometimes when that happens, I still break a chapter into two, but name it as parts. Like part one and part two, separate but still connected

@Queen_of_life_Heba You make an excellent point. Breaking up a chapter before you set all the pieces in motion can probably feel a bit jarring, particularly if the chapter works well as an entity.

I think I need to set it aside so that I can read it with fresh eyes and be objective.

@Shivran86 I was slightly fearful that having too long a chapter would be too taxing, but I suppose it depends on how well it reads....
