Genuine question: Would you like to read a fantasy story with middle-aged protagonist? I kinda feel sad that all the women are teenagers. We middle-aged women need to have fun fantasy adventures too, right? :D

@Carolyn_Hill always try to write outside the box is my suggestion. That's how I'm approaching my writing now

Okay, okay, I think my muse might have an idea! And this one might be real. And it connects me with my high fantasy roots, which I've been yearning to do.

Genre: high fantasy / dark fantasy / romantasy

Tagline: True love burns like embers, not a wildfire

          Logline:

After the death of her beloved grandfather, Sophia is drawn into the dangerous allure of Dominion magic, a forbidden power that promises to reconnect her with the past. When she forms a soul-binding bond with the tormented sorcerer Victor, her best friend Alex warns that the price may be losing herself forever.

          Thoughts?

@Carolyn_Hill Oh my, this sounds so good! I think there's a book which is a bit similar to this premise (superficially of course) called 'Infernal Symphony'.

@Carolyn_Hill (sorry, im a bit late) wow, this is amazing! the tagline is so poetic and memorable, and the logline gives just enough to hook me without giving it all away. the idea of Dominion magic and the soul-bond sounds so unique and emotionally intense. i can already tell this story is going to hit hard.

@novelistASH Oh whaaaaaaaaaat you made your OWN TTRPGs?! Niiiiice!

It stinks when you lose a friend group...but hey, at least you (re)discovered writing!

I know people say you need to read, read, read to become a good writer, but I think that's a bit short-sighted in our modern-day world. Remember in the past, reading and writing was the main way to tell stories BUT before that, people gathered around the fire and TOLD stories. Oral tradition was a big deal.

What is D&D if not structured storytelling? And how is that somehow "worse" than reading or writing? It isn't!!!! You're totally collectively telling a story!

Have you ever looked back at something you've written and thought, "Yeah, I can write when the muse inspires me...so what the heck happened? Where are you, muse?!"

Everything I write now feels so hackneyed and uninspired. GAH! I don't dare share it because it's a flaming dumpter fire floating down a river of sewage.

Maybe I just need to not try to write tiny snippets when I'm so busy and tired.

seven_hues

@Carolyn_Hill i feel you on that! there are definitely days when the words just aren't flowing, no matter how hard you try. honestly, it's all part of the journey. you'll find your rhythm again, maybe just not right now, and that's okay. don't let the pressure get to you - give yourself some grace and focus on the little moments when you feel inspired, even if it's just a tiny snippet.

What, me? Create a monomyth? Are you kidding!!!!

Whispers: Yes, I might have done. Doo-doo-doo, dee-doo-doo-doo

I can't help it. I love the dang hero's journey. I know, I know it's been done a gazillion times and that's not even a word. But hey, I'm putting my own spin on it. :D

Yeah, I should be able to manage 2000 words. Heck, I write 2000 words just mindlessly gabbing. I should be able to write 2000 words for a story. :D

@Carolyn_Hill Ah, the outline. What's next? You followed Hartman's Story Circle? Are you constructing a monomyth?!

It's funny. I've called myself a pantser a lot, but my mind is so active that I'm planning everything before the next section is even done. I'm probably somewhere in the middle. I have close to six ideas for ONC and I might make a grip of first chapters and ask people to pick the best.

The timeframe is extremely lenient! One month for 2000 words. 8000 words by the second. I doubt you'd have trouble finishing.

Hey, good evening! If you would like to reach out to me offline, my email is jenny821k@hotmail.com for your convenience. I’d like to chat with you offline, if it’s alright with you, and we can discuss our story ideas offline. I’ve been meaning to share some of my chapters with you, but my book is mainly offline for future-publication reasons, so I couldn’t publish them on Wattpad for those reasons.

Carolyn_Hill

@meroceank8921 Thank you, my friend. And the best of luck to you with your story too.

@Carolyn_Hill I’m sorry to hear that, but I wish you the best of luck with them.

@meroceank8921 Right now I have had a huge influx of projects, and I can't really commit to anything. It wouldn't be fair to you. I don't like making promises I can't keep, and I am flat-out busy for the foreseeable future (at least the next two months).

I cannot find your poems anymore. Have you taken them down?

frayrays

@Carolyn_Hill that's okay, it's good to have it separate, but let us know which account that is, so I can add you on that as well.
Reply

Carolyn_Hill

@frayrays Yes, I've decided to have a separate account for poetry so that I can focus on it there, if that's okay?
