Hello guys! Long tome no see! I'm back with another chapter of Strangers in Falling for you! Disclaimer: I didn't proof read it before I uploaded it, so sorry if there is mistakes!
Anyway, this chapter is in honor of 75 years on February 19 since the Marine Corps launched an amphibious assault onto the island of Iwo Jima. This began one of the bloodiest battles in our nation's history. 70,000 Marines, Sailors, Soldiers, airguardsmen, and coast guardsmen swept onto the island. As three Marine divisions charged onto the island, it became evident that the enemy was well fortified with miles of underground tunnels. On the fourth day, the battle became an iconic part of American history as Marines raised the flag atop Mt. Suribachi. Years later, the hard fought battle for 36 days would spur Admiral Chester Nimitz to remark that Uncommon valor was a common virtue.
We should all pause to remember and honor the legacy they forged. They were truly the Greatest Generation.
