I was born into a wealthy Bulgarian family on June 5, 1473. In 1490, I became pregnant by an unknown man at a very young age. I carried the child to term but seconds after i gave birth, my father took my child away. He claimed it would be better for both of us never to see one another and consequently my family disowned me for the shameful birth of an illegitimate daughter. I thought my father is punishing me but then i realized he is saving my daughter from the wrath of Klaus. I  was vanished to England for the embarrassment of the Petrova family; but I quickly adjusted to becoming English. 
I  returned to Bulgaria in the latter months of 1492 to find my entire family brutally slaughtered by Klaus. I knew he had done it as revenge for my escape and subsequent transition. 
Hundreds of years had passed when in 1864, i arrived in Mystic Falls. 
I am an ex vampire and the ex-lover to both the Salvatore brothers, Damon and Stefan
For the last 500 years i survived and i will always will....

I really like the character of Katherine the bitch 500yr old vampire who always flee and play boys round her palms as a means of survival. 
She's strong, wit and seductive. Like all women are.
