Biography
Cathy Jourdan was born in Miami, Florida in 1955 and grew up in a variety of places because her father was in the Navy. When she was young, she was in awe of the big world around her. Unlike many of her friends who were so sad when their fathers were transferred, she was always ready to move on to the next adventure. She is referred to by her friends and family as a gypsy and a dreamer. Having traveled the world, she continues to make her home wherever she and her husband of thirty two years happen to be.
She has been a lifelong student and finally decided it was time to focus and finish a BS in Counseling from Oral Roberts University of Tulsa, OK. Cathy joined the Air Force in 1977 which was the perfect choice for a wonder-lust. She stayed in the military for ten years and finally went back to Ohio where her family had finally settled after retirement. It was here that she began working at a men’s, medium security prison, and it was here that she really began to focus on writing. While she realized she didn’t want to make the prison her career, she did stay for ten years, working various jobs throughout that time. "I don’t have a death wish and that is sort of what you feel like when you work there. However, there is just so much inspiration for stories that it took a while to tear myself away." Finally, in 2000 she went back to her birth state to soak up a little sun. Cathy has been writing for many years. On occasion writing non-fiction and screenplays, her real passion is for the freedom of writing fiction. Her collection of short stories is certainly evidence of that. Her thought provoking style of writing creates three dimensional characters you won’t soon forget. She continues to write and will soon have her first non-fiction book complete.
