When Natsumiki was young, around 6-7, she’d spend her time helping her grandfather around his shrine since she couldn't get along with the other kids thanks to her social anxiety. With this, she further isolates herself from the other children, worsening her isolation. One day, when her grandfather went to meet with the other shrine, the Higurashi shrine. While there she clung wary of the place, but that was before she was approached by a blacked haired girl around her age. The girl smiled warmly as she greeted the girl with such kindness that Natsumiki couldn't help but feel infatuated by Kagome and this sparked their long-term friendship. Kagome's kind and warm personality helped Natusmiki improve as a person as Kagome helped her to express her emotions more freely resulting in her booming into popularity just like Kagome. Even with her high rise in popularity and her increase in friendships, she still stayed by Kagome's side, remaining loyal. Natsumiki's affection grew for Kagome with each moment they spent together, she couldn't help but feel repulsed at the sight of her and Inuyasha together, jealousy gnawed at her heart as well as knowing. She’d known for the longest that she never even stood a chance, for Kagome only saw her as a friend, and they were both girls, if they both had gotten together the judgmental truth of reality would come crashing down onto them at their relationship if they ever gotten together, so even if Kagome was single she’d just continued being her friend and not her lover, for they could never be… This is old before 67 was even a meme
