          My story begins at Holy Cross Mission in the remote village of Bolahun, Liberia, where I was a Peace Corps teacher.
          
          My experience in Africa has found its was into my narrative, and real people have inspired my characters.
          
          For reasons of nostalgia I wrote myself and other mission staff into the Prologue.
          
          Persons showing up at the Tea Room at the Monastery at 4 p.m. daily included Peace Corps, Monks of the Order of the Holy Cross, African teachers, and other mission workers.
          
          I was called Perk by people there.
          
          Enjoy my story.
