I looked at your work and it’s pretty original. What about giving every friend a habit or a personality, which makes them stand out from all the background characters , if you do so make it really clear to the audience so the readers get an opinion about the characters fast as possible or maybe how the characters stand to each other. How‘s their relationship with the teachers, parents etc.
You also could add conflicts to hook the audience.
