Social media has become a way to hide who you truly are because of your past mistakes and flaws.. But nowadays, are people hiding their true selves because of the hardships that they have faced to become the person they always wanted to be, or are people hiding their true selves to pretend to be the exact thing most people would hide from; a broken soul with false mistakes they have never made but feel necessary to have in order to compete for maximum attention with other people who have actually been through those same problems?
In other words all these people, every single person on social media, is either someone trying to be a better person than what they lead on with their past, or they're a person with a relatively normal past and wish to be a part of that group with depression and PTSD so they lie about their past to make it seem worse than what it really is.
Either way, people lie. Not just a few, but quite a lot of people, because they can hide their smirks behind a screen more than face to face with other people. Why can't we all just be honest, completely honest with who we are, where we come from, who our family truly is, what our past is like, and our true personalities? It's merely a waste of time to struggle in order to come up with a whole new backstory on who you are, and still get caught in your jumbled up lies rather than admit that you've either had a depressing past or a relatively normal, up and down kind of past and still not only get the same amount of interest from other people, but also create more genuine friendships based on the truth. Everyone is always upset that they are left behind or ditched; maybe they just saw through your many lies. And lying more out of fear that you'll be continuously dumped will only guarantee your isolation.
As for me, as long as you ask I will be perfectly honest with you, save for my age and where I live because only psychopaths would need that information.
