Who Is the Author Behind Charlie?

Chris Powney is an internationally unknown, non-BAFTA award-winning actor, bronze-selling recording artist (with total confirmed sales in excess of two copies), and author of several unpublished, unread novels.

He has never appeared on a Forbes list. He has never been nominated for the Dublin Literary Prize-not in 2020, not in 2021, and definitely not in 2023. Unsurprisingly, he didn't win.

Between 2023 and 2024, Chris co-hosted the podcast Jibber Jabber with his chummy of over twenty years, where the two spent countless hours talking nonsense and somehow convincing people to listen. You may also not have seen him in sitcoms such as Peter & Co (2019), Night, Night Birdie (2019), and Over the Moon (2022)-none of which gained critical acclaim, audience traction, or any lasting cultural impact whatsoever.

As one of the most successful underachievers of his generation, Chris remains-by his own admission-one of the most humble people he knows.

The Diary of Charlie Monroe is his first published novel-a story about big dreams, bad decisions, and teenage ambition at full volume. For this Wattpad release, Chris will also be recording selected diary entries as audio versions... because after years of oversharing into microphones, why stop now?
