I just wanted to vent real quick
If you have't noticed I've been more on and off Wattpad recently, ever since 2026 started and I would like to say I've had the worst start to the year
At first it was nice and calm, but then on Jan 2nd, at 2:00 AM, my Papaw died...
He was like a hero to me, I softened him when I was born, when I was little I would bury him in my toys and blankets, that was back when he was healthy though
A few years back he was diagnosed with cancer in his jaw, he survived it but it left his jaw mangled, in the middle of 2025 he was diagnosed with dementia, he forgot my mom one night during dinner.
He got really sick around the same time my grandma got breast cancer, it was horrible on my mom because she had to take care of him while simultaneously working (she has an at home job)
One day he stopped eating, my mom rushed him to the hospital, according to the doctors he lost the ability to swallow, he had to have all his food fed to him through a tube, water given to him through small sponges.
He wasn't getting better, I'm not sure the exact reason but doctors told my mom he didn't have much longer to live the day after my Grandma (Nanny) finished chemo.
They were both devestated and asked if they could take him home so atleast he could take his final breath on the farm.
Family came from all over the country to see him, the nights he only truly got sleep though was the days after his grandkids are there, my mom didn't leave his side much though.
On Jan 2nd, 2026, at 2 AM was when he drew his final breath.
The visitation was Thursday and the funeral was Friday.
We put him in his mausoleum, he looked perfect, as if he were just sleeping
His death was in the paper, he did own a small roofing company afterall
We have people staying at the farm with my Nanny so she doesn't get lonely
My Papaw was such a brave man, my mom would call him 'The Terminator' because of the amounts of times he cheated death.
