since someone on wattpad just unpublished all of their harry potter fanfics, due to j.k. being a horrible person(she'slikekindahomophobic, transphobic, etc), i just wanted to make something clear.
yes, i love the fandom.
no, i do not support the person behind it and their mindset.
the harry potter series is a masterpiece, no question, but that doesn't change the fact, that j.k is intolerant towards other people. so are her characters and it shows.
i mean, the amount of racism in the books is crazy. and yes, hating people because of their blood status is a form of racism. also, calling the chinese character "Cho Chang" and the indian ones "Padma and Parvati Patil" kind of speaks for itself.
j.k. said that she wrote the book and created harry's character, to have a hero who was wearing glasses. but then, there is not even one character in the whole of hogwarts who is confirmed to be gay, transgender, or whatever else you can be. do you get what i want to say? that doesn't make any sense.
i just want to say: since my story plays in a whole different timeline and kinda different universe, the characters are kind of my own ones, meaning they are way more tolerant (i can't change the blood status thing, but i won't overdo it, because it sucks), there will be gay characters, gay relationships, some outings maybe, and overall no racism towards people with other nationalities.
i just hope that people don't immediatly associate the harry potter fandom with the horrible woman who created it, and only see the beautiful world behind it, the great characters (some of them just scream "gay") and the storyline and main character to show us: be whoever you want to be, there will be people who will love you the way you are.
