Authors Note 

I grew up in a small village in North Lincolnshire, close to the River Humber, where the ground is steeped in Saxon history. One summer, an archaeological dig on our village green uncovered a burial mound and the traces of Saxon round houses. Watching history rise out of the soil where I played as a child stayed with me.

When I began to write, those discoveries became a spark. Though my story is told through fantasy, it's rooted in the same turning point in Britain's past-the uncertain years after the Romans left. I've always loved history, mythology, language, and fantasy fiction, and with a degree in English and History I wanted to weave those passions into something new.

This is the story of a young girl, growing up in a village not so different from my own, caught between the weight of the past and the pull of an unknown future. But her path is far from safe. Shadows stir at the edges of her world, and the choices she makes could change everything.
