Hi love, you commented on my fanfiction last month and had a request for me to write something with Stefan. I'm still curious about what you had in mind. I figured you forgot to then actually tell your ideas.

Hi
I’ve been sitting on a story idea that blends 90s hip-hop grit with neo-soul warmth, centered on a DMX × Jorja Smith love story (AU)—and I think it has the potential to be something truly heartfelt.

The core of the story is the contrast and connection: DMX at his rawest—faith, anger, vulnerability, survival—meeting someone like Jorja, whose calm, observant, and grounding presence challenges and soothes him in ways no one else could. It’s about quiet studio nights, late-night walks through the city, the weight of fame, the struggle of inner demons, and music as a lifeline. Their love wouldn’t be about fixing each other—it’s about understanding, trust, and a soulful partnership that grows through shared experiences, grief, and creativity.

I want to be honest: I’m not the right person to write it. DMX’s real-life journey is layered, difficult, and deeply human. I don’t want to misrepresent him or oversimplify his struggles, and I know I couldn’t do it justice on my own. I also want this story to honor his legacy, not just use it as a backdrop.

That’s why I’m offering the idea openly. If any writer who loves 90s hip-hop culture, emotional storytelling, and character-driven romance wants to take this concept and give it life in their own voice, I’d be beyond grateful. No pressure, no ownership claims—just the hope that the story is told with care, heart, and respect for the music, the era, and the humanity behind both characters.

I’d rather see it written right than written by me.
