THE DEAD CHORUS
            
            A parasitic after-effect of resurrection rituals performed on him over the years.
            
            The Dead Chorus is not a single entity — it is the psychic echo of every soul displaced or dragged across the veil through Damian’s body. They live in the fractures between his cells and his spirit, whispering, remembering, trying to use him as a mouthpiece.
            
            They call him Door.
            
            When weakened, they speak through him.
            When angered, they attempt possession.
            When ignored, they sing.

Born during a blood-moon ritual intended to bind a high-ranking demon into human flesh, Malachai Crowe was never meant to survive infancy. His mother died shortly after birth, the cult abandoning the child once they realised he was not a vessel — but a fracture.
            
            He was taken in by underground clergy who attempted to “purify” him with glyphs, sigils, holy branding, and ritual isolation. This left him permanently scarred — physically and mentally — and marked him as something that could never fully belong to either world.
            
            He renamed himself Damian when he ran.
