Someone asked me how long I take to write my chapters and I explained a bunch so I thought of sharing it to everyone. Here goes:
Depends on my availability, ideas and writer's block.
Typically it would take 5-6 hours to do the actual writing (with breaks), correct it once and check for some grammar but that is when I already know what to write. Otherwise, I'd have to first think of the story, think of the reasoning behind the story, act it out in my head a few times, and tweak the words. I would also go back multiple times to check the timeline and correct it. Sometimes, I'd find inconsistencies and would have to edit my current chapter or previous chapters to correct that.
Obviously, if I sit and do all of this in one day, I'd give up writing overall so I usually write bits of scenes, typically 20 lines whenever I get the time. That would usually take 20 mins or so since I run the scene in my head a few times, think of any easter eggs or shock factors to place, and also try to make the actual reading enjoyable. If I find myself not being able to form words or know what happens next in the story, I'd keep it away for a while and come back to it once I do.
I don't force the ideas. I have a rough idea of where I want the story to go and I have a few future scenes planned ahead of time. So, I spend most of my thinking time trying to link that to the present scene and to make it make sense.
