I'm excited for the influx of AO3 authors that are going to come in due to the new Wattpad TOS.
I feel like people don't understand that AO3 isn't quite the 'dark web', and there is a way to censor the content that you see through the tagging system... most of the critique I see about AO3 is about the content on it, when really it's a breath of fresh air given how heavy censorship is now on the modern internet.
Content like that /does/ deserve to exist on the internet. At least in the form of stories. Sometimes it's the only way victims have any way to cope with what happened to them, and I don't think the heavy shame helps.
Not talking about the stories that romanticize it and don't acknowledge that romanization as being through the characters eyes of course - I'm saying that stories that actually show horrid actions for what they are, as sick and uncomfortable, deserve a right to be published.
Just kinda sucks that most people don't see it that way.
But, anyway. kittisaurous on AO3.

@ALLIGAT0R-B0Y I'm glad we could come to an agreement - sorry if I came in sounding kind of guns blazing, I'm just pretty passionate about this

@Cidersaurous Yeah, I’m in full support of victims coping in ways that best help them. I suppose it’s a matter of my limited view on the site.

And sometimes it's just easier for people who are experiencing things like this to view it through the lense of fiction rather than reality. It creates a wall of distance that some victims might find comforting while they're still in the early stages of healing.
