@Cliche_Cracker Sure, to get ideas you can always check out my works or other authors, a few tips could be to start with a dramatic scene, or something exciting. If you want your start to be something calm then you could add some tension to build it up to something interesting.
What you could include in your book...
o Tension
o Drama
o Descriptive language
o Picture/Video
o 1st/3rd person
o Speech
A few writing techniques to make your stories entertaining...
1) Adjectives - descriptive words
2)Personification - imaginative words
3)Alliteration - word that has the same letter e.g. Cilche Cracker
4) Short sentences - this one builds a lot of suspense
5) Onomatapeire - sounds e.g. Boom, Pow, Crash, etc...
6) Punctuation- , . ! " ; : / '
7) Similes - Describe something as something e.g. The magic hall was as massive as the size of a whale.
8) Emotional language - opinions of the characters announced to the readers.
9) Adverbs - doing actions with ly endings e.g. She ran quickly.
I hope this helped, sorry if it was too long, but this is how I make myself clear with people and I am a very big helper. :)
