Might see more random uploads from me. I've decided to start releasing drafts of stories I've been sitting on. I honestly do write a lot, I'm just always afraid the drafts are too shitty to actually publish. But I'm trying to ease up on my perfectionism and just give the drafts a once over edit before I post them. At the moment, I feel a lot more confident about my writing skills :)
Decided to submit a story for the open novella contest last minute. Like hella last minute submissions close in 20 minutes lol. I wrote the whole thing very last second and I'm not entirely confident in it, but I thought it would be a fun challenge to write something on an actual time frame and maybe actually finish it. Since I decided to participate last second I spent the whole day writing the required 2k words for round 1 and my head hurts lol.
So yeah, if you get a notification about Black Orphea, that's what that is. Not something I expect anyone to get invested in just something for a contest. If it doesn't qualify for the next round I will more than likely just post it on AO3 if I continue to write it.

Following up on a question I asked last week about y’all’s reading habits. I came across this YouTube video called “Why People Stopped Reading.” It goes over the current decline of reading in the US, how children are ineffectively taught to read, and how social media pretty much eliminated the need to “read for fun.” Pretty interesting and short video.

@Colorwool I've seen YouTube videos like this and it is very interesting to see and understand why people nowadays are not reading or not reading enough. especially kids. But yeah pretty much everything is on social media now and things are not how they used to be. Like I remember when I was a kid we would read books for school and we read in class but I guess now it's just not the same anymore
Do you guys read a lot outside of wattpad? Or even on wattpad? I’ve always liked to write but honestly I don’t read that much. I used to, but now I find it hard to pick up a book and actually finish it.

@cherrybabeluv exactly!!! I also have a shorter attention span these days so I find it hard to just sit and read. Tbh I think that’s why I’m such a slow writer too because I get really distracted when it comes to editing since I have to read everything over and over.
@Colorwool I used to looove reading but I can't focus so well anymore and when I have free time I choose all my other hobbies above it :(
Editing the booker scenes in the 21JS fic and god, reading his dialogue back is so cringe I see why y’all hate him I get it now lol

I don’t like to bring up politics on here or really in my stories, but I’ve been listening to hella musical soundtracks today (I’m a theater girlie✨) and there was a common theme throughout.
Whether it was Rent, Back to the Future, Some like it Hot, or Hairspray—there is always a focus on the effects of the marginalized communities or “outsiders” due to the state of society. Black and brown ppl, LGBT ppl, people who just don’t conform to the norms of society. Which is a common theme in most musicals, but ig it just hits a little different since we’re so close to Election Day.
The final song in the hairspray movie that plays over the credits talks about how far we’ve come, but how far we still have to go. And with how close the presidential race is between the two candidates this year, we’re way too close to taking a step backwards once again.
So yeah, vote if you can and are able. And if you’re voting for trump, unfollow me :)
