@Browns_storybook I apologize if this comes off as nitpicky but something just occurred to me. If Ailene really is the daughter of the duke then she is practically a princess. I don’t really know what the international laws are regarding punishments for harming someone from a noble family but I imagine if word got back to Ailene’s father that she had been horribly mistreated by her husband then he would be in a lot of trouble. It might make more logical sense if Arthur just started harming her himself after getting drunk.
