Recently got an idea for a PJO fic and decided instead of using faceclaims I’d draw the characters the way the OC would draw them (since I was planning to use “their” drawing for some other stuff) and this was legit the best idea I’ve had this year. They’re turning out so cute omg

Coruscant_Cosmonaut

@blossom_txpaz tbh I would suggest everyone try it, it’s very trust the process because I’m pretty much developing a new style on the fly, but it’s also the most fun I’ve had drawing in a while.

Recently became obsessed with the pre-oath children of the Big Three in PJO, especially the ones that were born pre-oath and still alive when it was made. Canon kinda brushes over it with just Nico and Bianca, but I’m like…what happened to everyone else??

(You could say they just didn’t exist, or they just didn’t care/didn’t get attention because they were already over 16, but that’s not as fun, is it?)

Coruscant_Cosmonaut

I say brushes over it as in like we know what happened to them, but then nothing else is addressed

Recently watched Iron Lung and — because literally everything is about El Hopper to me — it made me realize El’s ending would have been a lot easier for me to swallow if she’d been allowed to like…Have Emotions about it. Been allowed to be angry and scared and defiant and desperate to survive and all the ugly emotions that come with the realization you might have your entire life stolen from you.

Like I’d still be hurt, I’d probably still be mad she didn’t get to live, and ultimately I just don’t think there’s any “El díed” ending that fits with the tone of the rest of the story, but at least it’d feel like the story KNEW it was unfair, you know?

But that would require the Duffers to see her as an actual character instead of a plot device, so I guess she’s just going to be god’s goodest little sacrificial lamb or whatever. :/

Coruscant_Cosmonaut

Seeing stuff for Tales From ‘85 has left a bit of a sour taste in my mouth, not gonna lie. Like on one had it looks really cool, but considering the canon ending it’s like… “Yeah, El is just a metaphor with no hope for living a normal life. Anyway here’s a story specifically set when she has the most hope for and truly believed she could live a normal life.” Like why are you out here rubbing shít in our faces??

Coruscant_Cosmonaut

@virqoswrld Honestly! Unfortunately I think they’re going to drag Stranger Things out for awhiillleee because — at risk of sounding conspiracy brained — they don’t really have anything to replace it. They’ve cancelled pretty much every show that could have retained the ST audience.

especially with rubbing this shit in our faces with el never being able to have a normal life, whereas literally post s2 and pre-s3 up until beginning of ep 3 of s3 we see her get to literally live normal…but apparently this is canon to the show?? like omg, they’re making it worse. had it been canon, it should’ve at LEAST been mentioned in s3 or even s4, give or take.

LITERALLY THIS!! see, like i don’t wanna be a debbie downer but like…they need to stop producing anything involving stranger things from now on atp, because they’re just going to run themselves into a wall with the way they’re handling this “franchise” now.

I think it says something about how much people cared about the adult plots in ST that I’m seeing people say the show “destroyed every ship except Lumax” like Jopper didn’t literally get engaged. Like I 100% get what you’re saying but there IS a whole áss other ship over there.

Coruscant_Cosmonaut

Or maybe they all had Jopper ruined for them already, I know season 3 really spoiled it for me.

Finishing up the second part of my new Stranger Things fic (the longest part, tbh) and writing the S1 final is feeling so shady. Like I'm not even trying and it sounds like I'm ragging on the S5 final (No spoilers, but if you know you know.) Fücking RIP I guess.

Coruscant_Cosmonaut

TBH with how the ST5 final went, I would have thought I would be a lot more upset than I am. Like I'm far from HAPPY, but also like...idk I found S5 incredibly ignorable? Like they easily could have given Will a coming out seen in S4 then had the S4 plan succeed (kîll Vecna before he finishes his attack on Max), and then you wouldn't need S5 at all. There's enough lore in S1–S4 + all the extra material for a satisfying explanation, and then all the other stuff was added in either 1) The Last Shadow (A show most people haven't seen, including me, and I don't care about aside from some occasional fun facts I can use) and 2) Season 5 itself (So it wouldn't need to be explained at all if there wasn't a fifth season in the first place.)

I mean, I hate the way the lab plot wrapped up, even in its most positive interpretation, but it's less the "That totally screwed up the entire thing" feeling I had after TUA ended and more "Welp. Guess I'm ignoring that shît." It's a weird feeling, especially after being so stressed about it before. I can fully image rewatching S1–S4 and just ignore S5 which like...isn't good, but considering I haven't brought myself to re–watch TUA at ALL and had to give up House of the Dragon because of how dogshît the leaks seemed, it's good enough.

(Actually maybe I was just prepared. Expect the worst and never be disappointed!)

@motherguts I didn’t even think about going straight from S4 to the epilogue, but you’re right you kinda could if you just adjusted it a bit & cut out the mentions of El being gone. That’s a bit embarrassing for them, but definitely something I will consider.

@Coruscant_Cosmonaut EXACTLY! and honestly do not blame u for not wanting to write s5 for any of ur books cause i considered that as well before just saying “i’ll just rewrite it” so i can be happy with everything. it’s such a horrible cycle in shows that just HAVE to add reasons to kill a specific character (especially in this case since nobody else died BUT el and kali, though el’s ending is ambiguous) BUT i will say the epilogue was the best thing, despite some factors all being abt el, and i LOVED IT so much that’s another reason i needed to include s5. (or tbh you could just do s4 then skip to the epilogue because like you said, it’s so disconnected that it doesn’t matter lol)

Nearly time for the ST final and I’ve got to say, no matter what happens, I’m kinda happy to see it end. Like, am I nervous about what’s gonna happen? Yes. Am I still glad, after seeing shows get cancelled and abandoned left and right, to see a show come to a natural conclusion? Also yes.

Coruscant_Cosmonaut

I know a lot of people are sad, but tbh I’d always prefer a good, solid conclusion over the show getting run into the ground until it’s inevitable forced to stop.

Finally got around to watch volume 2, and it was NO WHERE close to as bad as people were making it out to be. Like, was it perfect? No. Is El’s plot stressing me out? Yes, and the finale will definitely be a make or break moment for me. But idk why everyone is acting like the Duffers broke into their house and personally shot their dog about it.

Coruscant_Cosmonaut

*and not just traumatized

“She’s trying to get El kílled” yeah because she thinks the only alternative is they live on the run for a bit, get everyone they loved múrdered, and then inflict the same suffering they went through on other children. I’ll eat my words if it turns out she really is being mind controlled into tricking El or something, but right now idk why everyone is acting like she’s being malicious and just…deeply traumatized.

I think my biggest fear is they’re gonna kíll Kali off even if they let El live and I’d be so pissed. She is such an interesting character and deserves better than to come back just to suffer and díe.

I’ve seen a lot of people mad at her, and like yes she’s be REAL shady this season, but also I’m like. Massive side eye at everyone, because this is the fandom that is still to this day massively woobifying Billy, but they can’t have sympathy for the woman who suffer leagues more and now believes her mere existence is a threat to everyone around her? Be serious.
