I am an English teacher by day and a role-playing obsessed, Jane-Austen-loving, witchy-romance-devouring writer by night. I started writing fanfiction nearly a decade ago, and I have moved on to writing my own original stories since then. This series is one of many, but "The Coven of Misfortune" is unlike any other story I've written.
"Why's that?" you ask.
It's kind of a funny story.
It starts with my best friend from college, an obsession with regency romance, and a role-playing game.
You see, I had gotten into role-playing games a year earlier. In that time, I had played in two campaigns and created three others. My best friend from college wanted to play, but she lived an hour away and could not reliably meet in person to play a campaign. So, I crafted the ideal game for her birthday combining all of the things that we love: regency romance and witches.
Four of my friends created the main characters that occupy Hudol Manor, while I created the world. Because this series started with those friends, each of the romantic interests in the books is crafted to each friend's particular tastes. They chose the trope, I built the characters and the story. This is a story that is written for them, because, quite frankly, it wouldn't exist without them.
