            I get what you're sayign, but I didn't say it like that? I didn't ask them if I could because its not up to them, but I did approach it kindly. And even if I did say it like how you said I shouldn't have, they know I'm trans, I've said before that I really don't feel comfortable with my name. And how is this about them? They shouldn't need to call me something that triggers me, and makes me feel like shit, just so they can be happy. This is in no way about them. If they have a kid they shouldn't believe that my name is goign to always stay the same. if a cis person asked for a nickname, in most situations we wouldn't be disappointed in them, we would be okay with it. But now when this name makes me feel like shit, they arent okay with it?

            I mean, ya, they may have named you after a departed loved one, or chose the name for a specific reason. If my kid came out to me and said they had a different name now, I'd feel a little like crap. I mean, I'd still support them, but it would hurt having a name I picked like a perfect gem just shattered. 
            Yes, they should be supportive of you, but they chose the name while you were still a clump of cells and sperm, slowly growing more and more. So to have their child suddenly say "Ya, no, hate my name, I'm changing it. Call me this now." It kind of hurts them. You could've said "Hey, I feel like my name just...doesn't work with me. Like it's someone else who has that name. Can I change it? I love it, and I'm sure you picked it for a reason, but it feels like if someone is ever calling for me, they're calling for someone else." 
            You gotta look at it for their perspective. Things like this have to be approached the way you'll approach a injured rabbit. Carefully, calmly, slowly, quietly.
