          	Hey Everyone,

I am leaving Wattpad, properly and permanently.

As writers, we all have to deal with rejection - and that’s fine, it’s part of the game, but the way I have been treated by the @opennovellacontest team is beyond that. For those who are unaware, they chose not to put either Transference or Visions of Uun into the second round. As is their policy, they refuse to discuss this or explain why, and have been rude and dismissive of me in my attempts to private message them.

I understand why - it is obviously a reaction to my ‘stirring the pot’ before the start of the ONC when I called out the system for being unfair. But it is not justified. It may be arrogant to say it, but both Transference and Visions are written to a higher general quality than many entries that did make it through. There is simply no way, that in a merit-based contest, they wouldn’t have made it to the second round.

I have to accept that I am simply not welcome by the people who run Wattpad on a day-to-day basis and I am finally done providing them with free content for them to make money.

I will be deleting my account on Monday March 29th, using the time in between to copy off my work and also to pass my email on to anyone who would like to keep in touch. If you would like to, then let me know in a comment here, or by message. I’ve met many nice people on WP and the only regret in leaving will be losing some of those positive connections.

For the record, 3 of my 5 ONC entries did get through. Indigo Moon from this profile, Debt of Souls (@MarkMission1980), and The Days of the Dying Sun (@FrankNico21) - both of which I did under pseudonym because of the illogical ONC rules. This shows that my WRITING is good enough for their contest, simply that as a person, I am not welcome.

          	Fair enough.

Good luck to those of you who still hope that merit will select the winner of this biased contest. And good luck to all of you in your writing journey.

          	Much love,

          	C

@CrispinOTooleBateman OMG I checked your profile to see when we would expect the next update of TRANSFERENCE, and I find this! I'm so shocked and dismayed. Seriously, this is one of my favorites. This is now the third entry that didn't make it for no reason. Will you consider staying and continuing these lovely stories? I respect your decision, but I'd be so sorry to see you go. You're a talented and engaging writer. More than me. How in God's name did I get through and you didn't? Makes no sense. I wish they had culled me instead.

@CrispinOTooleBateman Cripes, that's bad. I don't even want to second- guess the what's and whys and hows, but I fully understand that you are frustrated and drawing the consequences is an understandable reaction. I do hope to stay in touch, you have a valuable contribution to make to the world of writing.

ONC Recommendation Time!

Today, I’d like to get you all to go and read @carolyn_hill ‘s amazing story AfterLife.

It’s about the future, virtual reality, and all the frightening things that it could all mean. Think the Matrix with a little more connection and fear. Honestly, it’s scary. The world-building is impressive, with a casual-seeming ability to even create terms that not only come across as realistic, but also feel like they are words we should be adding to the dictionary immediately.

It will have your nerves tingling, feeling like you are on the edge, not quite sure what is what. One of those stories that makes you get up off your chair and shake yourself a little once you’ve finished reading just to make sure... ;) Go read it now.

Hiya! Just thought I’d let you know I’ve entered the ONC again! This time with The Search for Terror.

I know you liked my 2019 entry (I think? Lol) so I wondered if you’d like to try this one. :)

Also, good luck with your own entries!!!
