MAINE STORY CONT.
A couple was with me, and only one seat was left on the 12:00 flight to Charlotte. One! The couple didn't want to be separated, so I got that last seat (it was incredible!). However, the 12:00 flight got delayed to 12:35, so I was like, What the heck? Can I even make the 2:20 flight now, too? I had to go from Gate E all the way to Gate A or B in Charlotte (that was like a fifteen-to-twenty-minute walk. When I got off in Charlotte and asked the gate agents, AA had already rebooked me on an 8:00 flight to Washington, DC, and to Bangor from there. I wouldn't have gotten there until after midnight. After that, I was like, "No! I am not making my parents drive an hour to come get me that night. I am getting to Maine today!"
The gate agents at Gate E told me I might still make it if I ran, so I hauled ass through the airport with my carry-on and luggage. By the time I finally made it to the new flight, they were boarding the last few groups and didn't let me get on at first because I had already been rebooked. So I, out of breath and coughing up a storm, told them, "Look, I was stuck for five hours in Charleston, only for that flight to get delayed, too. The gate agents at E told me I could probably still make the 2:00 flight if I ran. I don't care what you do, but you are getting me to Maine today. The agents told me so." I was like the mom in Home Alone--LOL! It worked, though. They put me back on the flight, and I finally made it to Bangor at 7:00 at night--LOL! Hey, I did get something from this story: I can stand up for myself if I need to.
I want to write a short story about this so bad! I think I'm going to keep that title: American Horror Story II. :)
