As I stated in my most recent FE Oneshot Post, I'd like to take a moment to sit down and write my thoughts on the Black Lives Matter Movement that we're seeing happening all around us. Although the media isn't covering it as much as it was just a couple weeks ago, this is still a serious issue that needs to be addressed, and though I don't have a loud voice that will reach thousands, I still have a voice, and I'm going to use it.
The situation that started this with George Floyd was absolutely devastating and heartbreaking. No one, and I mean NO ONE should have to face death and be unable to escape it like he did. It was a goddamned tragedy, and even though it was terrifying, it doesn't even begin to cover what people of color are faced with daily. As a white woman, I know I have privledges, and I hate that. Hate that I get more advantages when it comes to law enforcement and so much more that a person of color who is worth just as much as me doesn't even come close to getting. It's awful, it sickens me, and it leaves a bad taste in my mouth that won't ever go away so long as we continue to let literal scum like this continue. I don't have the money to donate to the many fundraisers that are worth every penny in the world, but what I can do is simply... bring as much awareness to this as I can. George Floyd wasn't the first, and he won't be the last so long as we let this continue. Even now, so many more cases of unlawful law enforcement are popping up and showing the world just how corrupt our justice system is, and how corrupt our world is. I implore all of you to do your research, support the peaceful protests over this outrage and even go to one, and if you can, donate to a good cause to help in any way you can.
No lives will matter until #BlackLivesMatter.
