@CrownedCabbage - Hey Author! I just wanted to say how much I’ve loved reading A Spice in Life—first of all, the title? Absolute perfection. It’s catchy and fits the story so well, especially with the focus on Shokugeki no Soma.
Funny enough, the first time I read your story was back in middle school during quarantine, and now I’m in college. I know… how did time move that fast?! When I saw that you’d come back to finish the story, I couldn’t help but get hit with nostalgia and immediately re-read everything from the beginning. Zero regrets.
While re-reading, I also had a total “wait a minute—Food Wars had FIVE seasons?!” moment. I honestly forgot too, considering it feels like I watched the anime a lifetime ago. That made me wonder—were you ever thinking about covering season five as well? I remember you mentioning in a previous comment that the story was coming to an end with about four chapters left (not counting the love-interest endings), so I’m curious if your plans have changed at all.
And then there’s Asahi Saiba—Erina’s half-brother. Turns out in season five he also brings some serious heat! I’m talking something along the lines of BLUE, an elite International Cooking Tournament, and him leading a group called the Noir Underground Chefs—known for dirty tricks, extreme methods, and even having a special technique that gives him a serious edge. If you did decide to go the season five route, I’d be so interested to see how Homura and Asahi would meet and interact. I feel like that alone would ruffle so many feathers, and honestly? I’d love to see Homura in a new light. Though I won’t lie, her being completely oblivious to everyone’s feelings toward her is still one of my favorite things—it’s unintentionally hilarious.
Overall, you’ve created a truly wonderful story, and I’m really grateful you came back to it. Happy belated Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve! I hope you’re doing well, and thanks again for sharing something that’s stuck with me for so many years.
