I was watching Jane the Virgin tonight with family (don't worry totally spoiler free) but Jane mentioned a theory to which Hitchcock transcribed. It's called the "bomb theory" and it basically helps build up suspension. I thought it could help others and it definitely helped me alot to know. But it's basically two people sitting across from each other having a plain conversation. And then, sudden information is given to the reader that there is a bomb under the table. Neither characters know of the info yet but one is revealed it. And it leaves the reader wondering what that character will do next. Will they try diffusing it, will they tell the other person?
It's basically the most brilliant way to write suspension in a story I ever heard! I thought it could help shed some light on for readers that are struggling or didn't know.
Anyways also happy Thanksgiving and thank you for the continued support for 365 Days. I honestly didn't think it would have this much support, I'm just glad people enjoy it.
Lotsa love xoxo
