I write under the pen name Curious Reverie.

This story comes from my deep fascination with how extreme structure, shared discomfort, and strict communal living can quietly transform young girls. I wanted to explore what happens when personal comfort is removed - when everything from clothing to daily routines is shared - and show both the raw difficulty and the unexpected emotional beauty that can emerge from it.

At Hwa Xiu Academy, six Year 1 girls (Wei Ling, Rebecca, Emily, Deborah, Tammy, and Joyce) step into a world of heavily starched shared pinafores, random daily draws, graceful marching, powdering rituals, and long days (and sometimes nights) in the same uniform. What begins as shock, embarrassment, and resistance slowly evolves into something deeper - an intimate sisterhood forged through sweat, scent, endurance, and quiet support.

The story is slow-burn and rich in sensory and emotional detail because real growth, to me, happens in those small, repeated moments of hardship and connection.
