          I stand and carefully scoop her into my arms again before she can protest. She stiffens for a second, then lets out a shaky breath, her head leaning lightly against my chest.
          
          “You don’t have to carry me,” she mutters, though her voice lacks the bite I’ve grown used to.
          
          “I know.” I admit, a faint smile tugging at my lips. “But I want to.” I admit. I just can't bring myself to push her away now.
