Cordelia stood in the center of the carnage, dark curls sticking to her cheeks, crimson staining her hands and the front of her dress. Her chest rose with an uneven breath as she stared down at the scene around her, eyes far too bright, far too delighted. A laugh bubbled from her lips—soft at first, then sharp and breathless. “Do you hear that?” she asked, though nobody had spoken. Her gaze snapped toward the nearest person, smile stretching a little too wide. “It is quiet now.” She tilted her head, studying the blood smeared across her fingertips as though it were something precious. “I always forget how quickly they stop moving.” Another laugh escaped her. “Mm. That part is terribly disappointing.”

@DARK-KNIIGHT The moment he touched her arm, Cordelia seemed to wilt into the role effortlessly, lashes fluttering as she allowed him to guide her away from the carnage. If she was aware of the blood soaking her dress and staining her hands, she gave no sign of it. Instead, she clung lightly to his sleeve, playing the frightened survivor with surprising ease. “Oh, thank goodness,” she breathed, looking up at him with wide burgundy eyes. “I was beginning to think nobody was coming.” At the mention of being scared, a small laugh escaped her before she quickly pressed her lips together, as though trying to suppress it. “Scared? Mm… yes. Something like that.” Her gaze drifted over his shoulder toward the mutilated bodies scattered across the pavement, and for a brief moment her smile threatened to return. “Did I see anything?” she echoed softly. “Oh, I saw everything.” The words left her mouth before she could stop them, prompting a slight tilt of her head. “Well… almost everything.” Her voice lowered conspiratorially. “There was shouting first. Then crying. Then begging.” A pleased shiver traveled down her spine. “Then the quiet.” Her eyes unfocused for a moment as though listening to something only she could hear. “I do like the quiet.” Realizing how strange that sounded, she blinked and looked back at him with practiced innocence. “But that probably isn’t helpful, is it?” Blood dripped lazily from her fingertips as her hands clasped together beneath her chin. “You seem very concerned about me, monsieur.” [sir.] Her gaze wandered curiously across his face before she leaned in just slightly. “That’s sweet.” Another soft laugh bubbled from her lips. “Do you always rescue strange women covered in blood… or am I special?”

@bloodofmalk • when bruce left the club, he expected his driver to be ready swiftly to take him back home. what he didn’t expect was to be met face to face with one of the worst crime scenes he had seen. his gaze immediately set on the smaller woman, the thought of ‘ saving ’ her the only thing on his mind since she most likely stumbled into it just like he had. his shoes pounded against the concrete as he ran up behind her to gently grab her bicep, which his hand practically swallowed. she was too tiny to be part of this, surely. “ ma’am? … everything is going to be okay. i just need you to take a few steps back and away from the bodies ” she was evidently in shock, her laughter proved that. bruce tightened his grip a little more and guided her away from the mutilated carcasses so he could make cordelia face him “ i know you’re scared, but did you manage to see who did this? ” she was soaked in the crimson liquid like she had been bathing in it. she must have tried saving one of them “ did you see / anything /? ”
