My name is David Angell and I am a first time author. Though I enjoyed writing short stories and poems back in my school days, I never imagined that I would ever have the time or patience to write a novel, yet here I am.
Personally I am an avid reader of fiction, especially the historical and adventure genres, and as such that is where my creative interests lay. In my youth I was too preoccupied with wanting to travel the world and have my own adventures to sit down and write one. From Scuba Diving in the Red Sea to tracking wild game in the African Bushveld, I was lucky enough to do things that many people can only dream of. Now however, at the age of 27, with the responsibilities of a mortgage and family to look after, my travelling days have come to an end and I found myself needing to fill a void in my life. And so I turned to writing.
The Stone of Destiny: the quest for Shambhala (working title) is part one of an intended trilogy and I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I have enjoyed writting it.
Originally started as research for a documentary I'd have liked to film, the story I discovered has lent itself far better to an enthralling work of fiction. For two years this story has come between me and my sleep, but finally I feel ready to complete it. In many ways, being able to write and adventure story, that draws on many of my own experiances, has become more exciting than travelling ever could be; my adventures now are limited only by my imagination.
It has been my passion, it has become my life, and now I hope it will become my legacy.
