i got a message before i unpublished some stories asking why my characters are randomly queer, neurodivergent, etc.. i like to have diverse characters that reflect the reality we live in; people all around are different. it's the same reason i don't make my characters all about that one thing that makes them different. queerness isn't a monolith, poc's arent monoliths, disabled people aren't monoliths. i think there's not enough authors on wattpad that write people that aren't fully straight, cis, ablebodied and neurotypical white people. its not realistic anyways lol
i also really enjoy reflecting my own experiences and thoughts through my characters. in some way, it's kinda like they're an extension of me and that aspect is very therapeutic and dear to me.
representation is also important. if i saw enough people like me in places like these as a kid, i probably wouldn't have hated myself so much. when i started to grow and look at fics on wattpad and they'd put a random picture of a very white blonde woman with blue eyes for y/n, i was always really weirded out anyways because how does that represent me? i want people to be able to identify with the things i create and find a place of comfort in them.
all that to say, yeah my characters are realistic sorry they're not the way you wanted them to be :)
