Dan Maurer is an author, screenwriter, and theater director. He recently penned the Amazon bestselling horror thriller "Snow Day", and co-wrote the screenplay "Richthofen: Legend of the Red Baron". His new works in progress include a thriller novel titled "How Does Your Garden Grow", and a screenplay for a Southern Gothic thriller titled "Blood August".

In addition to "Richthofen", his screenwriting work with Jeff Rubin includes the feature-length fantasy "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow" and the romantic comedy treatment "Royalty and Me", based on a concept by Producer David Foster ("Hart’s War", "The Thing"). He is a member of International Thriller Writers, Inc. and the Horror Writers Association.

Beyond writing, Dan has a background in both trade book publishing and digital marketing. After graduating from East Carolina University in 1988, he spent a combined seven years in the editorial departments of both Doubleday and Houghton Mifflin. While working with Doubleday’s Editorial Director and Houghton Mifflin’s Editor-in-Chief, Dan helped bring many notable books to market including John Grisham’s The Firm, Richard Price’s Clockers, and Jim Lovell and Jeffrey Kluger’s Lost Moon, which became the Ron Howard film Apollo 13.

In time, Dan transitioned to a career in digital marketing. He went on to devise and implement digital marketing strategies for brands as varied as Curious George, Peterson Field Guides, and The Polar Express. After leaving trade book publishing, he spent many years working in other industries, leading digital marketing initiatives for companies such as Citizen, Dun & Bradstreet, RCN, and Bristol-Myers Squibb.

Dan has also been active in live theater. He served ten years as a board member for an acclaimed New Jersey theater company and has won awards for his producing, directing and sound design.

Dan lives with his wife and their daughter in Robbinsville, New Jersey.
