Dan's previous writing accomplishments include a stage play that was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize, a feature film, and a TV pilot that won Best Film at the Del Mar Film Fair.

Dan chose this genre because he loves magic intertwined with action and adventure and animals. He's  lived in Texas and California. "I like to use these locations as they give an air of authenticity to the writing." He was a writer/director in Hollywood for several years. He loves dressage, eventing and polo, "that’s why the dragons have a down-to-earth feel about them; it comes from my love of horses and animals."
