After many years of dancing, I went back to college and began working on bachelor of science in clinical laboratory and biology and a minor chemistry. After working diligently on this path, my fibromyalgia reared its ugly head and took over. I can no longer work in a lab setting and all my hard work is now for not. I have had to change to a major in English with writing emphasis.
When I first began the new path, I worried that I had wasted my time. I love the sciences. Soon I began to realize that I can use my knowledge of biology and chemistry in my writing. I have decided to begin a blog in which I will post Scientific Journal Articles and then break them down for everyone to understand. In addition I have started work on my first novel.
I have a very small collection of work that includes poetry and short stories. I am hoping to market my work and actually get into print. I believe every writer hopes to write the novel of the century but as JK has already done that, I am hoping to simply get into print and hopefully have a small but loyal fan base.
I live in rural America. My home is an historic two-story limestone house built in 1861. It is small, 20 by 40 feet. It has two bedrooms and a living area and a dining room that are original to the home. In the early 1900's a small house was moved from the back of the property and added on to the stone structure and serves as my lovely kitchen and (unfortunately), the bathroom is just off the kitchen. I found this rather inconvenient so I added a full bath off my upstairs bedroom. When we were in the middle of construction, we found the old mill stamp on the wood planks used to build the upper level. While I feel bad about changing the original layout of the home, I am grateful to have an upstairs bath!
I love cats. I have two houses on my property and 12 cats. I began adopting strays when I moved in as there is no shelter here in Osage County Kansas. I hope to one day build a no-kill cat shelter. Cats rule!
