Another small excerpt from chap7 of PST:

Hunter let a small sad smile paint his face as he reminisced about the better days. The days that were once filled with hope and mindless wishing on every star they could find. He wished he could have the privilege to keep that childish naivety they once had. Even if they knew back then they weren’t like the other kids, even when they knew that life is in truth all tears and frowns, at least they could always retreat back into their safe little bubble whenever.

There's a one shot that I've been working on since 2021 so that's almost 2 years in the work now. I've been writing bits and bits of it over the years and I've been very inspired for it as of late so after posting chap7 of PST, a few days or a week later and I'll dish that one shot out. Hopefully you guys will enjoy it. As a hint, it's inspired by the song Gravity by Sarah Bareilles.

Pain Splattered Teardrops chap7 sneak peek:

Hunter mindlessly traced a little smiley face in the stars and closed his eyes, wishing that he could stay here with his siblings forever. He took in the fresh nighttime air and let himself bask in the moonlight as a serene calm washed over him. As he let out a deep sigh, he felt his shoulder loosened slightly as the weight of his worries washed away. He would let the laughter and the chatter of his siblings wash away his worries for the night. Eyes still closed, he swore he was still sitting under that stupid tree back in the orphanage's backyard as his siblings traded dumb dares between each other, faces flushed as they struggled to breathe right from laughing too hard with well earned smile lines forming on their youthful faces. At that moment, things were perfect.

Sneak peek of chapter 6 from Paint Splattered Teardrops:

After a few silent moments, Vee exhaled shakily, seemingly ready to start talking. “There’s this trip coming up. For a project for school of course.” Lucia nodded. Encouraging Vee to keep talking. “It’s just…”

Realising where this is going, Lucia concluded. “You need some cash, don’t you?” Vee’s hesitant nod made her shoulders slumped in relief. It was just cash. Of course it was. Lucia was glad she wasn’t being ignorant when Vee could’ve been seriously hurt or something. She didn’t mess up badly when it came to Vee. Yet. Still- she made Vee think she can’t ask her for money. She’s still at fault for something and somehow that thought made her feel even more oddly relieved than it should’ve. It should’ve scared her. Feeling relief she’s being blamed for something. But it didn’t. Because she’s Lucia. And she’s always at fault for something.

Another paint splattered teardrop sneak peek:

“I don’t know if you can tell,” she resumed. “But I’m going to make it my goal to earn your trust. Like a game sort of.” Sharp teasing eyes gazed into quivering flustered brown. “A challenge.” She finished with a wink, “just to make thing interesting between us.”

Luz licked her lips. “Okay.” She whispered hoarsely. She shyly added, “I accept.”

          “Any boundaries?”

The brunette thought it over the best that she could with a pretty girl in close proximity. She couldn’t think of any so far. Well- understatement of the century. She couldn’t think at all- that was the truth. In her mind it was all jumbled as ‘Amity. Amity. Amity.’

“Not really.” She answered honestly. “Not yet at least.”

The answer seemed to satisfy the Blight.

          “So- can I do anything?”

Anything. Yup- it really was warm here. She nodded stiffly.
