A lich is a witch who casts a spell on themself before they die so that they come back as a lich, kinda like a vampire but with magic, and if you read the Moonstone series, albeit quite a ways in (The Pauper's Dream and The Sorcerers Lullaby) it explains it a lot better

I love books, can get lost in them for hours and hours.
