Growing up in a household of readers, Philip Morgan never lacked for being surrounded by volumes of fantasy novels, sci-fi epics, mysteries and horror from authors like Edgar Allen Poe to Stephen King, Issac Asimov to Michael Crichton, Agatha Christie and more. But reading never really grabbed hold of his imagination until he bought a copy of Dracula from a school book sale when he was eleven. Stoker's novel had him hooked, and from there fantasy, sci-fi and horror became his own.

As he got older, as much as he loved reading from the worlds of J.R. R. Tolkien, Terry Pratchett, Simon R. Green and Robert Jordan, he focused more on the desire to bring those worlds as he saw them to visual light, studying the visual arts and illustration; wanting to draw comic books for a living helped that! He did write a short novella when he was a teenager, but once completed it was the last time he would write on that scale for years.

Morgan retained his love of reading into adulthood, adding pulp mysteries, steampunk, cyberpunk and westerns to his pool of preferred reading groups. In time the inspiration he drew from these genres was too great to contain and his old desire to write returned with a tremendous power, surfacing in his first novel in the Darkstar Steam series.

Currently, Philip lives in New Mexico with his wife and cats and is writing more about the world he has created, while new characters and other lands wait in the wings, waiting for him to tell their stories as well.
