I agree, it totally depends on the kind of apocalypse. Really, there's not much room for farming or writing if it's the run-for-your-life type. It's all about in the moment survival. But once that dies down... well, food production is paramount! And since there won't be electronic media (assuming there won't be, at least for many years), storytelling and live adaptations of stories would be people's main source of entertainment. I'm hoping I will A) survive and B) be able to do something useful.
