I just had the start of an idea for an abducted romance.

The lead female does not realise how totalitarian her society is. It is all she ever knew, and surely the decisions made by those in charge are for her own good...right?

She is kidnapped by a leader of the underground resistance. The government has labeled him a terrorist, but the government lies a lot... She grew up believing though.

While with him she sees another way of living, free of rules though not free of consequences. The freefolk own themselves: their bodies, their choices and the consequences, their labor and their families.

The Controllists claim that such things are dangerous and choices must be limited to safe ones for the good of the public.

Families and non-approved belief systems undermine needed authority. If the government does not limit the number of humans breathing and adding CO2 to the atmosphere through their activities, the earth will become uninhabitable. (Or will it?)

The free want to persuade others to question what they have been taught. It is considered an assault on the mind to instil such confusion. It is a hateful thing to do to another human being. The consequences of violating speech codes can be severe: Loss of continued education, loss of reputation, employment, housing....

Scientists have turned up information that makes some government claims seem... fabricated. How much is true, and how much is an excuse to maintain power and control?

          	What does Marissa want?
Safety for herself and her loved ones?
          	Romantic love?
          	Freedom?
          	What if freedom is frightening
and love is a risk ?
          	So much can go wrong...

Agorophobia is a fear of open spaces, of the outside. What if someone raised in captivity is afraid of making the wrong choices in a world without safety nets?

Is freedom truly worth dying for?

Will she side with the free and help them, or will she betray them to protect herself and those she cares for?

Lots of people like werewolf stories
           (including me) What if
at the start of the story several werewolf boys visit a seer. Her abilities are limited, as if she was seeing/feeling through the other persons body. The first two were 'normal' glimpses. One of the boys has a mate in human territory, the other girl has a pet parrot.

The 3rd girl is so badly injured the seer thinks she is dying. Her mate is crushed. The best guess is that she was captured by rogues. The young Alpha wants all Rogues dead.

His mate isn't dead though. Her pack was taken over violently and she was unwilling to swear loyalty to the new Alpha. She chose to die helping the son of the old Alpha escape... but isn't that lucky. The Alpha considers her a traitor...

Years later, there is a formal visit by Vampires to review/renew an agreement between the two groups. She decides that she would be better off as a vampire slave. Maybe she would at least be allowed to die...

She pretends that vampires terrify her. In fact everyone can smell her fear- she is terrified that this opportunity may slip away.

What will the Alpha tell the vampires about her before she is taken away? Will her new owner be cruel or kind?

Will her mate find her scent? Will her scent be changed? Will she be a rogue? Will She recognise her own mate, or will her wolf be dormant? Will she consider herself too damaged/unworthy and hide who she is?

I have so many partial stories.... Should this one get priority? What about one of the others?

          Submissive Luna
The one where the Alpha werewolf has to hide his attraction to his mate? She was just rescued from a true hellhole and has mental/emotional problems.

She is afraid to displease anyone; even submitting to (another) r@pe seems safer than suggesting she doesn't want to. She doesn't feel free.

How can she heal and spread her wings?
How can he protect her and set her free?

Thinking about a story that starts with a bride fainting on her way to the wedding venue. Her sister makes a quick trip for a pregnancy test.

Unfortunately, she had told her fiance she wanted to wait until they were married. One night she brought him home very drunk and... He was surprised to see her there the next morning. She was hurt he didn't remember. The test is positive and she finishes getting dressed and having her hair done while stressing about how to tell him they already 'did it' and she's pregnant already.

End of the wedding they kiss and she faints again. There is a panic and her sister tries to calm everyone down admits she's pregnant. He is shocked. As far as he rembers, they never had s_. He is certain she cheated on him and tips off his wedding ring...huge scene as she is regaining consciousness. She faints again as she realises what is going on.

The marriage is anulled and he refuses to have contact with her or any of her family.

Skip ahead a few years... His daughter was doing a project for science and submitted DNA to Ancestry.com. She is upset and asking her dad when they were going to tell her she was adopted. Her dad wants to know what brought that up and she shows him the reports that show they are not related.

He is shocked and tells her she is NOT adopted, the samples must have gotten mixed up somehow. He will arrange another test to put her mind at ease. The test wasn't wrong, and the Ancestry website shows someone else has 1/2 his DNA. Who? He was careful about birth control. Why didn't the woman sue for child support?

          Should I write it?

@DebraHeston
I have a LOT of good story ideas. One or two even have deeper meaning... as in warnings about relationships that start off great but become toxic/abusive.

Think about it. Some women CHOOSE to stay another day and another until they die... and others CHOOSE to flee at some point. Why not stories exploring these choices for better and worse?

Stories that show warning signs... Stories of one fear fighting another until the survival instinct is blunted. Stories of escape and survival, or even just dying free after getting their kids to some sort of safety. There are a lot of true stories for inspiration. Romance stories where ultimately there is a happy ending aimed at will be most popular though.

There are romance stories where the male lead is dominant, jealous, etc and it is seen as really attractive. Some of the traits of werewolf mates sound a bit ( or more than bit) like some stories of abusive husbands... before the beatings got started. Think of a woman who thought she was with her soulmate but it went bad... really bad.

Now imagine a twist on that. There could be werewolves who don't have a mate yet, or who lost their mate or something. They could be delusional/insane or simply wanting what they don't have. Some of them could probably fake the whole 'soul mate' thing with a human who cant feel the mate bond anyway. Since she isn't his real mate though, he will be upset when she isn't following his script. He uses one excuse or another trying to train her to be what he wants.

She escapes his abuse, then is seriously suspicious of men. Dominant men scare the whey out of her. They are not seen as potential protectors but likely abusers.

Then she runs into her REAL mate. She has to learn to make distinctions between signs of danger and a healthy relationship with a strong/dominant man. This is a way to show readers the same distinctions.

Can you please be my editor???

DebraHeston

@xxDonotreadxx

I need an editor myself. I found someone, but she has been crazy busy and hasn't even read the first of the 9 chapters I sent her...

            I actually finished
            'Shooting the Messenger'
It is about 30 chapters and may still need a few tweaks, but it is all right.

I googled extensively:I looked up recipies, videos, comments by travelers, prices on surgery and the discount offered by one hospital for people without insurance, google maps street view....what hospitals in the country have apropriate specialists on staff and travel times.... In other words I actually tried to make some of it a bit more real and not 'just' made up.

I want to put up (at least) one good story at the start of the next big contest.

There is some work on a sequel, but much work ahead before it will start to come together. If I can pull it off, the sequel I have in mind will be a lot more challenging. His ex-lover is an assasin and determined to split them up by planting doubts about him.

You will see more of her alternate love interest who she didnt give a real chance to before. BUT for the first time since he lost Her to the Bad Guy, the Other Guy is starting to take an interest in another girl. Plus, the Bad Guy learns a few things that tilt his KILL meter into the red zone. Yeah, a lot more action, intrigue, misunderstandings mostly deliberately engineered.... Then-

            No. I won't tell you the ending(s) I have in mind. I wrote 2.

But the book I am on now is
            Chef Scheherizade:

The way to a mans heart is said to be his stomach. What about an assasin who lets a witness cook dinner before killing her? She is already his prisoner... but how long can she convince him to keep her alive?
