But here's an Idea. Have an entire separate story dedicated to your favorite characters from anything. Have 10-18 and make them live together for a while. After that, make them somehow get into this twisted little game where if they don't play or don't play it right, it's their best friends life on the line. If they play the game right 'everyone' goes home.
I say 'everyone' because a story needs some emotion, so have some really good characters learn and gain a lot of character development and then kill them. Then lay back and drink the tears of your fans from your favorite mug.
You don't have to do it but it's just an idea.
