Your not evil and you don't really do evil stuff as far as i know, Not going to try and figure out if cliffhanger after cliffhanger is evil or not since its just your style and makes quite a bit of sense. The cliffhangers being the the baited hook or carrot on a string you dangle before readers to make them want to read more. Least that is how i see it anyway
