I’ve decided to put a few of my stories I wrote a while ago on here.

Hello,

2022 was… not a good year for me as a writer, I’ll say. Some of my noteworthy failures include: Making barely any progress on a book I had been working on for months, an unprepared NaNoWriMo attempt, and the starting of at least five projects I never wrote more than a few thousand words on. I seemed to struggle throughout the year with sticking to a single project, bouncing around, not really getting anything done. I kept starting new projects from new “shiny” ideas I came up with. That’s not to say these are all bad ideas. Genuinely, I like some of them. Some of them are things I plan to work on in the future, but the problem was that I never stuck to anything. It’s like starting a bunch of paintings and leaving them unfinished - that’s an accurate description of my 2022 writing journey. However, getting most of the negatives out of the way, I think it’s also important to note the positives: I’m in a writing club now! I did, albeit scattered, get a decent amount of experience from writing. Writing aside, 2022 was a great year in general - long summer, long autumn, and a new puppy! The weather wasn’t perfect and we had some storms, but that’s tangential to what I’m talking about.
2021 was a good year for me. I finished a book, greatly improved as writer, and got some of my short stories published. I went into 2022 hoping I would be able to do this, but I kind of failed.
Anyway, this has turned into a bit of a rant, but pretty much what I’m getting at is that I didn’t do great as a writer in 2022. Not great at all. And that’s why I’m going to do better — much better — in 2023. I’d like to write a book, no matter the length. I just want to see a book through, start to finish. I want to improve as a writer. I’d like to be able to have a finished book by the time 2024 rolls around. When November rolls around, I may just try and do better on NaNoWriMo (trust me, it’s a low bar) and maybe even finish it. Anyway, thanks for reading.
