Good day everyone, I have returned yet again. I have been working on and off the last few months on my current Azur Lane writing project, the replacement for Yellowknife and its spiritual successor, currently known simply as “The New Story.” Plot work on the story itself has gone slowly, and relatively smoothly, however the history surrounding the characters was an issue I couldn’t get off my mind. It was the final nail in the coffin for Yellowknife as a storyline, and could potentially raise questions and cause problems in this new story. I also realized that if I wanted a Royal Canadian Navy that utilized battleships and created its own no less, I would need to significantly augment Canadian, and to a lesser extent, world history as we know it. So, I began doing research, and discovered new issues as I went, causing the whole thing to snowball into an Eldrich horror of historical nonsense in my head.

So that leads to now, where I am currently developing an alternate history timeline to use as the base for the new story. This has led to its own issues that I won’t discuss here, leading me into my final point of discussion. I have been writing this stuff down as I go, and maintaining legible english throughout. I feel pretty bad about being silent for such long periods of time, so I am going to publish this timeline. I also wanted to do this because I wanted to gauge how understandable something like this would be, and how difficult it will be to write a story on it without confusing my audience with ships that never existed. With all of this said, I will release a sample of the timeline that leads up to Canada’s response to HMS Dreadnought.

With all that said, I apologize for what surely feel like empty promises of progress, and hope you will join me on my journey to keep them. Thank you for your lasting patience, and have a lovely day!

Apologies for the late response, I haven't been on Wattpad in a while. I am currently working on plot for my story as well as characters. I'm sorry I can't give you a very satisfactory response, since my progress is quite slow.

Hello everyone, I am.. as always.. having difficulties with writing. I have come to bit of a problem that I would like your imput on.

To put it simply, with the newest story I'm working on, I planned on basically redoing the entire Royal Canadian Navy's story from it's timeline start in 1900, and going all the way to the end of the second world war. This means new entire classes, names, and so on. Not only is this a bit of a pain to accomplish, but I fear it will also be really hard to follow from your point of view. The way I understand it is as follows; If someone is reading my story and comes across the name of a Canadian ship that was used. For example Saskatchewan. They'd want to look it up so they can understand the ship better right? The only issue is Saskatchewan might be a name give to a cruiser or capital ship since it is a province (rather than the F class destroyer) throwing the reader off. Maybe I am thinking about it too much, but I can't imagine something like that would be easy to follow.

What I wanted your opinion on is this.

Do you guys feel that you could follow such a complicated alternate history, that may force large explanations to be regularly integrated into the story.

Or would it be better, and of course easier for you if I just left the Canadian navy mostly unchanged aside for the addition of capital ships?

These both have issues of course. The first, being complication and ease of digestion while reading. The second being historical issues, as in; why does the RCN have fewer cruisers and more destroyers due to doctrine, whilst they also have some of the most modern battleships in the world?

Feel free to reply with your advice, I will be looking out for any.

Anyway, thanks again, have a good night!

Back to check in on you again

Still stuck in writer’s block, Huh?

DevotedSail09

@ButACrusader no, I've been working on the new story, I just haven't started writing yet. There is a lot of historical nonsense to be done. Thanks for checking in on me though.

I have a final announcement about Yellowknife, there will be no restart.

After thinking about it for nearly a month, I have decided to permanently shelve the story in order to have a fresh start, I will be working on a new Azur Lane story focused on the Royal Canadian Navy, but it will be different from Yellowknife. I added a final part to the story that explains all of this better. I will also release what little I had written on a to be prequel for Yellowknife called Maple Monarchy. There isn't much there, but I'll publish everything in case you're interested.

I just want to thank you all for being here with me, and I'm excited to share my new work with you when it is ready. Also, if you have any questions about Yellowknife you'd like to ask me, I have an email and discord posted in my profile's bio.

          Have a lovely day!

@brownbreadhead Some things have to be sacrificed in the name of progress, and unfortunately Yellowknife must go for a new age of story to exist

Another big reason for halting my work, is a crippling lack of motivation. This is due to things like my short attention span, stress and burn out, and procrastination.

The final big reason that has led me to my decision, is the story itself. Since it's creation, I've been tweaking and modifying the plotlines and story to make them better. Of course, this can only go so far before a major rework is needed to keep the consistancy of the plot. I haven't even fully written the plot and should've done so before starting, because now I am challenged and conflicted on directions for the chapters I am currently working on. I believe, the story as a whole is flawed, boring, rushed, bland, and needing an entire restart. I am a perfectionist to a fault, because I try to complete my work as quickly as possible, while also heavily criticizing myself and my work, leading to my personal dissatisfaction with it. I need to start again, and take things slowly, iron out plot holes as I create my storline, and figure out what the hell I'm doing long before I write and publish anything.

I hope you will all understand my predicament, and forgive me for failing to bring you a story of quality. I will be releasing what of chapter six I have completed for a few weeks, just so the last bit of my work doesn't go unread.

I thank you for all of the support you have given me over the last two years, and as always, have a lovely day!

Hello everyone, I need to get something off my chest. For a while now, I've begun to have doubts about my writing, and tonight I've made a realization. Due to an increasing number of reasons, I can no longer write Yellowknife.

I know, I know, I've said this before only to return to work but a few months later, but this is different. This time there are huge personal issues that have led to this decision.

Last time I said this, I tried to leave out why exactly I had to suspend my writing activity. However, because I have no intention of continuing for quite some time, I feel you should know.

To start, I've been quite ill as of late. Early in the year I caught COVID-19, which though in itself wasn't too bad, I think my immune system hasn't ever fully recovered. After that time, I've been sick nearly every week with many terrible things, but that doesn't matter. What does, is the weeks upon weeks of school I have missed because of this. As a person who has ADHD, (attention deficit hyperactive disorder) this is especially bad. I struggle quite a lot with school, and catching back up in particular, leaving me with either no time to write, or incredibly burnt out when I do have free time.
