FRIENDS! Another new contest entry from me. This time for WattpadWesterns' "Spanish Galleon" contest. 3k adventure story about a locating Spanish gold hidden in a ship wreck in the Californian desert. Had some trouble publishing it in the normal contest book, so it's temporarily in the paranormal book (but not paranormal, sorry).

In other news: I'm continuing my ONC longlist Western "Crossing the Hours". The next chapter has already been posted. I hope to finish it up by the end of June for those reading along.

FRIENDS! "Crossing the Hours" didn't make it onto the ONC shortlist, so now I can fiddle with it and make it into what I want to. A big THANK YOU to everyone who stopped by and read one or both of my entries! Very very very very much appreciated.

FRIENDS! Well, it looks like Teacups & Tentacles DID NOT make the cut into the final round of this year's ONC. *disappointment* It is my strongest one, I thought, but then, comedy hardly ever does well in contests. Crossing the Hours is still in, however! I've been having motivation problems about finishing that one, so we'll see....

@Jeanpragot Thanks Jean. Unfortunately, I'm not independently creative enough with plotting. My best work has always been based on prompts. But, I can't be too sad. I have been ONC Grand Winner twice, which no one else on WP has done! That's plenty. Still, I don't think I'll be adding anything more to CtH for now. I'll just edit and end. Writing 50k in 2 months is very tiring, as you probably know!

@Di_Rossi That's too bad. I thought the characters were fun and the story just enough off-the-cuff to be intriguing. The trouble was probably in the demographics of the jury, l don't think Upstairs Downstairs fans were in majority there... I do think Crossing the Hours has a better chance. It's a good tale and Its raw nature might keep the judges awake. Then, their reading without the spacing of postings will spare them this reader's confusions. Anyway, you are a good writer and I hope you continue seeking laurels. My advice, which you don't need, is to stay away from 'prompts' based competitions. Most of those are high school level killers of creativity and originality. You are too old for this.
