I fell in love with romance novels some ten years ago. The very first romance novel i have read (and finished) was published by Precious Hearts Romances (PHR) and written by the genius author Rose Tan. It was part of the Senorita Series. And mind you, I was only eight years old at that time. The heroine and hero was named Jane and Jack. I cannot recall the title anymore. Such a shame. Since then, i became an avid reader of romance novels. Up until now though i upgraded a little bit. In college, I developed a liking towards english novels and eventually classic ones. It was a whole new experience. Still, tagalog romance novels will forever hold a special place in my heart.
I got into wattpad almost four years ago. It was wonderful how wattpad changed the youth today. During my high school days, only a few read books. Even if its romance novels. Not that romance novels are inferior, its just that they are light to read compared to academic books that people are likely gonna read romance than academic. Now, i see more people reading on wattpad with their smartphones.
What saddens me is that, though wattpad has uncovered a lot of great talents, the quality of stories the youth are reading are somewhat deteriorating.
I am eighteen years old and this is my opinion.
